Another successful KJV year

KJV has kept its membership singing throughout the pandemic with weekly rehearsals on Zoom, or more recently, with blended rehearsals with a roster of singers attending either live rehearsals or at home on Zoom. We can’t wait until we can also return to live concerts, hopefully next term!

KJV alumna Alexia Sloane premieres at BBC Proms

King’s Junior Voices is delighted for former choir member, composer Alexia Sloane. The world premiere of Alexia’s BBC Proms commissioned piece for Voces 8, Earthward will take place on Monday 22nd July at Cadogan Hall at 13.00 as part of the BBC Proms. The Prom has sold out, however the concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. Programme details can be found here.

Welcome back!

After singing to a full King’s College Chapel at our summer concert, where we gave the Cambridge premiere of a piece by John Rutter, KJV is looking forward to the new term. Our older children have been invited to perform with the New Cambridge Singers on December 14th, and we look forward to welcoming new choir members at our first rehearsal on September 23rd.

Rotary Christmas Concert

Thanks to King’s Junior Voices who sang beautifully at the Rotary’s Christmas concert on the 8th December accompanied by Adam Begley. The evening raised approx. £3500 for the Arthur Rank Hospice and the Cambridge Churches Project for the Homeless.

KJV staff and children wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Concert success!

Congratulations to King’s Junior Voices for a wonderful summer concert on July 5th 2016. West Road Concert Hall was filled with an enthusiastic audience as the choir premiered new works by Andrew Goldman and Jamie W. Hall as well as singing old favourites. Our special guests Agatha Pethers and Junior Prime Brass helped us to celebrate the end of a successful year.

A CD of the concert will be available shortly.

KJV on TV and Radio

KJV has had an exciting pre-Christmas time with broadcasts on Cambridge TV and Classic FM Radio, as well as meeting The King’s Singers and working with conductor Stephen Cleobury.

Videos of KJV’s workshop performance of Jo Nicholl’s winning carol from The King’s Singers A Carol for Christmas and a clip from Cambridge TV’s broadcast from Prime Brass’s Family Christmas concert featuring KJV can be found here.
